Training Tips
When it comes to a dog/human companionship, dog training is the most important aspect of the relationship. Dogs are pack animals that seek leadership and as such, they need a leader to follow. Below you will find a few tips that all trainers will need to know to develop that special relationship that all humans seek for in a dog.
- As the leader, It is highly important that you show your dog love and affection whenever he does something correct. Dogs are loyal animals and as soon as they realize that you want the best for them, they will do anything to make you happy.
- Just like humans, dogs need a healthy diet to be in tip top shape mentally and physically. It is essential that you carefully chooses what he eats and when. Trainers should avoid food that contains fillers, preservatives, and artificial ingredients.
- A dog can get easily overwhelmed and confused if a trainer overloads it with too much information during a training session. If you see your dog slacking and getting tired it is important that you take a break from training and concentrate on something else like a play session.
- Dogs are motivated by food, and treats should never be avoided during training sessions. A trainer does not have to give a dog a treat for every single command, but it is important that treats are given throughout the training sessions. This will allow the dog to know if he does something correct that he might receive a reward for the effort.
- Keep your dog active! If a dog is training daily and has a day off, it is important that you do something active on the off day. This can include taking him to the dog park, going for a run or long walk. Anything for the dog to release built up energy.
